A robust and fully secured online voting platform

Robust voter authentication.

Prior to the assembly, voters are registered in the system with a unique PIN, automatically synchronized with the Votebox Live application server.

  • Each participant is sent an email with a secure meeting link and a personal authentication PIN, granting access to the online voting platform.
  • Every voter is uniquely authenticated in the system and may cast only one vote per resolution. Should multiple votes be submitted or modified — including from different devices — only the most recently confirmed vote will be taken into account.
  • The device automatically powers off after one minute of inactivity to conserve its battery life and protect the environment.

End-to-end encryption of data and ballots.

Real-time voting participation is secured via an HTTPS connection, and vote selections are encrypted to ensure data confidentiality.

  • All real-time data exchanges are protected via a secure WebSocket (WSS) connection. This two-tier security architecture guarantees the confidentiality and integrity of voting data.
  • Each General Meeting is generated with a unique secure WebSocket identifier, ensuring reliable session authentication and strict access control.

Secure hosting in Europe.

The Votebox application server is hosted by OVHcloud, a European leader and global player in cloud computing. Hosting in France ensures strict GDPR compliance and complete data sovereignty.

Secret or Public Voting:

Complete anonymization for secret ballots.

  • During a secret ballot, results are recorded completely independently of the participant. No data allows for the identification of which participant selected which option.
  • Voting reports exclude all voter names, except for attendance lists. The Votebox database contains no link between identity and vote.
  • This mechanism ensures absolute voting secrecy and maximum data protection.

Result transparency for public votes.

  • For deliberations and open ballots, every vote is registered under the participant’s name, providing complete transparency and traceability of the proceedings.
  • The Votebox software allows for precise disclosure of who voted for what by providing nominative reports.

  • As soon as a proxy is recorded, it is automatically added to the attendance register, including the associated voting rights.

  • Once a voter designates a proxy, their direct voting rights are automatically suspended.
  • With voting keypads, the proxy holder also receives the keypads for the individuals they represent.
  • Through the Votebox Live web solution, they can vote on their own behalf and for their principals, with different choices if required.
